Utah has BOTH regular AND residential versions of journeyman and master licenses (5 individual classifications). Without an approved training program, OJT hours DOUBLE. Exam includes both theory AND a practical rolling offset project. Effective January 19, 2026, experience verification goes directly to Prov Inc, not DOPL. No reciprocity — endorsement pathway only.
5 individual license classifications: Apprentice, RJP, JP, RMP, MP — BOTH regular AND residential versions of J/M
Without approved training program, hours DOUBLE: JP goes from 8,000 to 16,000 OJT; RJP from 6,000 to equivalent
Exam includes BOTH theory (open book) AND practical (rolling offset project) — practical at Salt Lake Community College 8x/year, St. George 1x/year
Failed exam 3+ times = must wait 120 days to retake (vs 30 days for first 2 failures)

Plumbing Contractor requires Master license + 30-hour pre-licensure course + $100K/$300K liability + workers' comp + EIN
